History of Germany Jerseys

One of the longest standing relationships with adidas has brought a consistent style since the mid 20th century of the Germany Home Jerseys. Inspired by the 19th century flag of former North German State Prussia, the home kit has been the traditional white top with black shorts since 1954. Throughout the last 60 years, the white top has featured minor elements of the German flag. The Germany Away Jersey has alternated between several styles, but most commonly a green jersey with white shorts. In 2006, Jurgen Klinsmann requested the team switch to a red away jersey, citing several teams that were statistically more successful in red. That fad ended with Germany's 2008 EURO appearance after taking third place as hosts at the 2006 world cup, and runner up to at the EURO 2008.
