History of Chelsea Jerseys

Chelsea Jerseys are some of the oldest in the game of soccer. Like any storied team, Chelsea's nickname, traditions and jerseys are deeply rooted in their formation. Originally sporting a lighter eton blue inspired by the club's president Earl Cadogan, the first home kit was worn with white shorts and dark socks. The royal blue home kits came in the 1920s, to give the club a more distinctive look. In the 1960s, Chelsea Manager Tom Docherty replaced the white shorts with the same color royal as the jersey, and then paired with white socks to give the club a truly modern look, as this is their same style for the Chelsea Home Jersey today. Umbro manufactured Chelsea Jerseys through the 1990s, and it wasn't until 2006 that Chelsea switched to adidas, their current manufacturer.
