Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba will miss the World Cup after breaking his arm in a warm up match on today. The 32-year-old was taken off 15 minutes into Ivory Coast’s 2-0 win over Japan following a collision with Japan defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka. A scan at the hospital revealed a fracture in his right arm.
Drogba was in the form of his life after helping Chelsea dethrone Manchester United as Premier League champions, while also securing the Golden Boot for himself. The injury to Drogba serves as a huge blow to the chances of the Ivory Coast who must face world powers Brazil and Portugal in the so called “Group of Death”.
