Sir Alex’s Spills the Beans on Rooney Situation

Sadly for all of us Manchester United fans out there, it looks like Wayne Rooney‘s time at our beloved club is just about over. Sir Alex Ferguson spilled the beans on Tuesday, outlining the Rooney saga during a very rare emotional and candid interview ahead of Manchester United’s Champions League clash with Bursaspor.

The tone was one of severe disappointment as Ferguson gave a long speech explaining exactly how the situation has unfolded. According to Ferguson, the problems began when Rooney’s agent told the club in August that Rooney would not be signing a contract extension and the he was looking for a move away. Some reports in England claim Rooney was unhappy not being among the highest paid players in England and now that same reason could lead him to sign with bitter cross town rivals Manchester City in a rumored £250,000-a-week contract worth £60million over five years

While it does seem that the Man United boss has accepted his star striker will never again play in the famous Red jersey, he does mention in the interview that the door will be left open if Rooney is to have a change of heart.

If there is any good news to come of the situation, rumors suggest that the sale of Rooney to Manchester City (or any other club for that matter) will provide the funds for Man United’s attempt to pry Fernando Torres away from the sinking ship at Liverpool.
