Fresh off the disappointing loss to Ghana on Saturday, Landon Donovan’s name is back in the media. According to reports, uber rich English Premier League side Manchester City is tracking the American star and could be lining up to swoop him from his full time playing duties in the MLS.
Donovan along with midfielders Clint Dempsey and Michael Bradley were standouts for the US team who came close to reaching the last 8. While Dempsey is already a Premier League regular with Fulham, Donovan still is under contract to play for the Galaxy in the MLS despite his successful loan stint with Everton at the end of last season.
The coaches son Michael Bradley looks to be the one with the most to gain. After a dazzling display in South Africa which saw him near to top of most statistical categories, Bradley should be targeted by some of the bigger European clubs in the coming weeks. Bradley currently is under contract with German first division side Borussia Mönchengladbach.
