The realm of sports has become increasingly techy in recent years. Whether its the hugely debated goal line technology or the simple tracking of workouts, sports and technology have a way of attracting each other. The most recent example, adidas’ latest tool for the professional and high-level player: the f50 miCoach.
Starting in November, the likes of Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale, Samir Nasri and Ashley Young will be sporting these one of a kind boots with a brain.
Using the tried and tested F50, adidas found a way to equip the F50 with a small miCoach Sensor which captures 360 degrees movement and measures “key performance metrics including speed, average speed (recorded every second), maximum speed (recorded every five seconds), number of sprints, distance, distance at high intensity levels, steps and stride rates.” As adidas explains, the f50 miCoach is “the first boot ever to enable players across the country at every level to analyse their game just like the pro’s and compare their performance to adidas professional players, team mates and friends.”
To bring this data to life, adidas created two unique experiences, allowing users to either download the data straight to their smartphones or download the data to the miCoach online training hub. The smartphone option allows users take personal performance stats and build them into the ultimate gaming experience while the online training hub gives the user the possibility to see graphical representations of their performance, relevant training programs from the best clubs in the world to help improve performance, and ways of sharing and comparing their performance.
