The Evolution of the adidas Predator and adiPure

2011 has been an impressive year for boot releases so far and 2012 looks to be an even more promising year for adidas with the evolution of two classics.

Predator D5, adidas’ New Control Boot

adidas Predators have always been known for their sturdy build and powerful strength, yet people often complained about the heavy, bulky boot. With every new edition, the Predator has shed some of its weight slowly evolving into the Predator D5, adidas’ new control boot. With “5 deadly zones to master all aspects of your game”, this new Predator promises to give you a serious advantage over your opposition with its new innovative features.

adidas has replaced the soft leather upper (against all of our wishes) with a newly redesigned synthetic leather that allows for “incredible touch, durability and ball feel”. They’ve also added the Traxion SprintFrame outsole, similar to the adidas adiPower’s, which helps shed the extra weight and gives additional support. Perhaps the biggest difference with these new Predators is the fact that these D5′s have “ball control characteristics” never before seen on adidas boots.

adiPure 11Pro, adidas’ “Heritage” Boot

Back in April, Bastian Schweinsteiger launched Bayern Munich’s 2011/2012 Home Kit wearing a never before seen adidas boot. After causing mass hysteria across soccer equipment websites, several sites revealed that this unique looking boot was in fact the successor of the current adidas adiPure.

Much like the Predator D5, the 11Pro has ditched the soft leather upper and replaced it with ultrasoft Taurus leather, only keeping the Kangaroo leather for the main kicking area of the boot. adidas has also equipped the adiPure 11Pro with the Traxion SprintFrame to help shed the weight off and give additional traction.  One of the most interesting new features of this adiPure is the 360° Support Saddle, a fulle enginereed, ultra-thin, anatomically shaped saddle which has been welded into the three stripes onto the instep of the boot. This saddle is said to give additional support and mid foot stability.

The adiPure 11Pro right this way

As with the new adidas F50 miCoach due to release in the coming months, the new Predator D5 and adiPure 11Pro will be equipped with the miCoach compatible.

Due to release in early 2012, the Predator D5 and the adiPure 11Pro round out the newest edition of the adidas boot family.
