With Barcelona already through to the next round with yesterdays 5-0 defeat of Almeria and Real Madrid just one game away in the Copa del Rey, we could assume that they will be meeting for the Copa del Rey final on April 20, just 72 hours after their scheduled La Liga match at the the Santiago Bernabeu.
Curiously, Barcelona and Real Madrid could also face each other in the Champions League, in either quarters or semis. Barcelona will be playing Arsenal in the knockout stages, while Real Madrid will be facing Lyon. If both teams succeed, quarterfinals would be the first stage of the Champions League in which two teams from the same country could face each other. The quarter finals will take place on April 5/6 and April 12/13.
If they do not draw each other in quarterfinals, there could still be a Champions ‘Clasico’ in the semi finals if both teams succeed in quarters. The semi finals will take place on April 26/27 and May 3/4.
Of course this is all based on the assumption that both teams will continue to win, but that’s FOUR big matches that could potentially take place in April considering the Copa del Rey, La Liga and Champions League.
Will the eternal rivals be able to handle it?
