Following the launch of the Arsenal Home Jersey 2011/2012 a little while back, Nike has now revealed what the Gunners will be wearing during their travels in 2011/2012. The all new Arsenal Away Jersey 2011/2012 is a completely different look from last year, featuring Navy Blue and Turquoise Blue diagonal halves. Very different than anything Arsenal has worn in the recent past, this latest Arsenal Jersey is a perfect compliment to any Arsenal fans wardrobe.
Like the Arsenal Home Jersey 2011/2012, the new Away jersey also features the new celebratory badge design. The updated badge features 15 laurel leaves to the left side of the Club’s crest to reflect the detail on the reverse of the sixpence pieces paid by 15 men to establish the Club in Woolwich in 1886. The 15 oak leaves to the right of the crest pay tribute to the founders who would meet in the local Royal Oak pub. Underneath the crest is one of the Club’s first recorded mottos – ‘Forward’ – with the anniversary dates of 1886 and 2011 either side.
As mentioned above, the Arsenal Away Jersey 2011/2012 is designed with diagonal colored halves, but the back in entirely Navy Blue. The diagonal line represents the gnomon (the pointer) which casts the shadow on a sundial – to commemorate the original Dial Square sundial on the site of the Arsenal munitions factory in Woolwich, where the Club was founded in 1886.
Rounding out the design of the new Arsenal Away jersey is small details including the word ‘Arsenal’ below the back neck and the motto ‘Victoria Concordia Crescit’, (‘Victory Through Harmony’) on the inside back of the club crest.
The Arsenal Away Jersey 2011/2012 is now available for pre-order at SoccerFanatic.com and is expected to arrive for shipping in late July.
