Nike’s latest soccer cleat innovation has officially launched. Built with feedback from world renowned players like Carlos Tevez, Gerard Pique, and Ronaldinho, the new Nike Tiempo Legend V brings cutting edge innovation to one of the brands most classic cleats. As evidenced by the names just mentioned, the Tiempo Legend V is a cleat perfect for players all over the field looking for unrivaled touch on the ball.
Originally launched in 1994, the Tiempo line has been updated to adjust to the increased speed of the game and full-field play of the modern player. Completely focused on comfort and the lightest touch possible, the Nike Tiempo Legend V brings the upper closer to the foot and uses two trimmed down layers of leather for a lightweight synthetic feel.
Like all of Nike’s new top-of-the-line cleats, the Tiempo Legend V includes All Conditions Control (ACC) technology to ensure perfect touch in wet and dry conditions. The new Hypershield technology and the second layer of hydrophobic mesh help to eliminate water uptake issues seen in traditional leather soccer shoes.
Ensuring these new cleats provide the traction required by top players, the Tiempo V’s sole plate has been engineered with widened heel and forefoot studs as well as conical forefoot and tip studs for quick directional change. The outsole plate flexes in the midfoot for increased movement and direction; an advancement borrowed from the popular Nike Free training shoes.
When it comes to aesthetics, many love the Tiempo for its classic look. With this new update, Nike has kept the classic stitched upper on the outside of the cleats while adding a pop of color on the inside.
