Beckham Stays in LA

David Beckham has ended the speculation regarding his future by signing a new 2-year contract with the LA Galaxy.  In the final year of his original 5-year MLS contract, Beckham helped the Galaxy win both the Supporter’s Shield and the MLS Cup.  The prevailing thinking was that Beckham would leave MLS on a high note and return to Europe for the last couple years of his playing career.  There was well-known interest from French team Paris-Saint Germain, and Beckham claims to have received offers from “one or two” EPL teams as well.

But in the end, he chose to keep his family in Los Angeles and continue the work of promoting and expanding soccer in the US.  Not only does the Beckham family enjoy living in southern California, Beckham also wanted to return to Galaxy training camp as defending champions, and work toward defending their title.  Beckham also hopes continuing to play with Galaxy will help him achieve his goal of playing on the Great Britain Olympic Team this summer.
