adidas Tango 12 – EURO 2012 Match Ball Released

adidas Tango 12 Match Soccer Ball

During today’s exciting EURO 2012 draw, adidas and UEFA unveiled the all new Tango 12 match ball which will be used during the tournament this summer in Poland and Ukraine. A remix of a throwback, the new adidas Tango 12 draws inspiration from the Tango design used on the World Cup and European Cup designs of the 1980′s, but incorporates design element representing the host countries. Etched into the Tango design are three bespoke graphics which celebrate the decorative art of paper cutting, a tradition in the rural areas of both host countries and link to the key characteristics of football – unity, rivalry and passion.

Taking up where the Jabulani match ball of World Cup 2010 left off, the adidas Tango 12 features triangular panels, thermally bonded together. This production method ensures a true and stable ball flight for top level competition. Like the Jabulani, each panel of the Tango 12 features a grip texture that enhances ball control through better boot to ball contact. Beneath the surface is a woven carcass and new bladder for better air retention and less water uptake.

Unlike any match ball before it, the Tango 12 was put through the most rigorous testing ever to ensure it met the standards of the World’s second largest soccer tournament. Testing on the new ball included qualitative player testing and quantitative lab testing.

Players and federations will finally get their hands on the ball which will be used exclusivly at EURO 2012, next week when allocations arrive. The adidas Tango 12 is available for pre-order now at SoccerFanatic.com
