Choosing the Right Size
Avoid a fit that is too big unless the shoes will not be worn until the child grows into them. Poor-fitting shoes can cause foot damage. If in between sizes, it is recommended that you order up a 1/2 size and wear thicker socks.
Always have children try shoes on indoors, walking on carpted surfaces and with socks on as they usually would wear them. Make sure there is room for the toes to wiggle.
